Taveuni, (pronounced Tah-vee-ew-nee), Fiji’s third largest island, is a paradise for nature lovers and scuba diving enthusiasts. A diver in Taveuni will soon appreciate that its nickname “Garden Island” applies not only to the landscape, but also to the underwater coral gardens.

The rugged mountains, verdant rainforest, exotic flora & fauna, lakes, plus the surrounding sea with its colourful reefs and multitudes of tropical fish make up an ecosystem of incredible diversity.

 

The island lies only seven kilometers off the southeast coast of Vanua Levu. Taveuni residents exude Beautiful Coastline pride, the island of Taveuni is rich in Fijian traditions and culture. Taveuni is sparsely populated, and virtually all islanders live in traditional Fijian villages.

RAKIRAKI / VOLIVOLI - Bligh water, a remote mainland paradise.

The world famous Bligh Water has an abundance of dive sites with amazing coral gardens, pelagic fish and incredible reef drop offs.

Whether you fly into Suva or Nadi, the trip to Rakiraki is an adventure in itself, allowing you to stop and experience the real Fiji. If transferring from Nadi Airport, the 2½ hour scenic journey takes you through the friendly Fijian towns of Lautoka, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki. Take time to stop on the way and visit the local markets.

 

The world-renowned diving, fantastic snorkeling, beautiful beaches, warm tropical water, and fine accommodations make Rakiraki a unique Fijian resort. With strong steady trade winds, this area is also famous for world class windsurfing and kite boarding

Dive sites - Neptune’s Wedding Chapel , Breathtaker, Amazing Maze, Golden Dreams, Macarena, Seqa na Leqa, Small World, Tunnel City, Dreammaker, The Pavillion, Vatu-I-Ra Passage Dives and off shore reefs.

The Vatu-I-Ra Passage lies in the Bligh Waters between the Fiji mainland (Viti Levu) and Vanua Levu. Strong currents surge through the passage bringing rich nutrients and prolific fish life. The reef system produce some of the most pristine and colourful coral to be found in Fiji—arguably the best landbased dives in the country. Travel time to these dive sites is approximately 45 minutes.

The ‘Papuan Explorer’ which is Fiji’s largest and most accessible wreck, is found at 20mtr and is home to an abundant array of tropical fish.

​

The ‘Ovalau’ is an exhilarating dive into a 55m roll-on roll-off car ferry that sank in August 2003, plus numerous more dives

Best time to Dive - Some of the best diving in Rakiraki is between April to October, June to August is your best chance to see tiger sharks.

​

Other activities - include windsurfing, kite boarding. Volivoli has amazing trade winds if you have gear then take it with you.

KADAVU - the outer islands of Fiji.

The reason that people travel to Kadavu is for the phenomenal diving!

 

The Great Astrolabe Reef is a fringing reef and Fiji’s largest living organism. It runs along the entire southern side of Kadavu island and stretches for over 120km. It is rated as one of the Fiji’s premier diving locations offering incredible diversity, and spectacular coral structures and marine life.

 

With well over a dozen world class sites there is some for divers of all levels. All these wonderful sites are within five to thirty minutes by boat from the resort. Visibility rarely goes below 25 metres and there is a fantastic variety of fish and coral to be found here.

Dive sites - Naiqoro Passages Manta Ray Reef, Eagle Rock, Golden Chimney, Nacomoto Passage, Reef sharks and The Pinnacles

 

Best time to Dive - August to October generally enjoys the best visibility in slightly cooler sea conditions (24°C).

beqa island
BEQA ISLAND and PACIFIC HARBOUR - The adventure capital of Fiji combined with an idyllic island escape!

Just south of Suva on the coral coast is Beqa Island and on the main land is Pacific Harbour.

 

Both destinations are renowned for incredible shark diving. But it is so much more than just sharks, it is also a marine wonderland with over 100 square miles of clear water surrounded by 30 kilometers of barrier reef. Plenty of pinnacles, bommies and even a wreck or two to keep you enthralled.

 

This location is renowned for it’s colourful coral reef system which abounds with myriad tropical fish, features spectacular multi-hued soft coral displays and provides a home to unique and sometimes bizzare tropical marine life.

 

You can choose to stay at Pacific Harbour and take advantage of the non dive activities on offer of head out to Beqa Island and enjoy the isolation and peace, or you can do a combination of both.

Dive sites - Shark Encounter, Caesar’s Rock, Carpet Cove, Side Streets, Tasu No 2 and more.

Best time to dive -  April to October is the main diving season and visibility peaks between July and September. The average water temperature at this time of year is 25C and visibility can exceed 130ft in some places.

​

Other activities - Pacific Harbour has a long, safe swimming beach.  Fiji’s best surf break is near at Frigate’s Passage.  You can participate in garden inspections, horseback riding, coral viewing, picnic cruises, reef fishing, deep-sea fishing or jet-ski tours around Beqa Island. There is also a PGA rated Golf course close by.
